Five Points Biergarten

When: Sunday, May 19th, 3-7pm
Where: Five Points Alley off Gilbert Ave.

Beginning on Sunday, May 19, from 3 to 7 pm, the first in a series of “pop up biergartens” will take place at the intersection of five distinct alleyways between Gilbert and Copelen Streets in Walnut Hills. This unique area is currently being reclaimed from years of neglect and abandonment, in the process transforming it into a viable, public event and green space in the heart of Walnut Hills. As the summer progresses, groups of volunteers will continue to descend upon and transform this space into a sustainable asset for the community.

Five Point Alley Cleanup—the Sequel

THIS Saturday, May 18!!!

Come help us with our progressive transformation of this incredible hidden community asset. Sign up to volunteer at: info@walnuthillsrf.org with “volunteer” in the subject line.

Volunteers sign in starting at 8:30 am @ 791 E. McMillan (park in lot next to building or across the street).
1. Sign in – grab some snacks
2. Get paired up with your volunteer team
3. Get your tools

At 9:00 — we hit the Alley and the business district with all our might.

What will we be doing?
This is part of a monthly series of clean up events to clean and clear the 5-point alley network between Gilbert and Copelen Streets. We will be clearing weeds, mulching, painting, removing graffiti, and picking up litter and trash.

What will you need?
Feel free to bring a pair of garden gloves or tools if you want to use your own. We will have some tools available via the Cincinnati ToolBank. Make sure to wear long pants, closed toe shoes and socks.

Who will be there?
We will be joined by Spring in our Steps – the volunteer group dedicated to helping beautify neighborhoods by cleaning their alleyways, sidewalks and staircases. SIOS will be our partner for the entire Summer!

Come be a part of making Walnut Hills beautiful!

Volunteer during the Flying Pig

Sign up by Wednesday, April 24!

• Are you looking for a front row seat for the Flying Pig marathon?
• Would you like to receive a free T-Shirt to add to your Spring wardrobe?
• Would you like to have breakfast with a great group of folks at our historic Stowe House?
• Would you like to help support our historic Stowe House with a financial contribution that won’t cost you a penny?

If you answered a resounding “YES” to any one or all of these questions, then have we got a deal for you!

Just go to www.flyingpigmarathon.com
Scroll down to “Volunteer Now”
Click on to sign up with a registered group.
Scroll down and click on to Friends of Harriet Beecher Stowe House
Complete the Registration Information form (the password is ‘stowehouse’)

And then just show up at the Stowe House on the morning of the race at 7:00 am.

We will be a runner feed station on MLK as the 1’2 marathoners approach the Gilbert Avenue turn. This volunteer station will prepare and distribute orange slices to the runners as they pass by.

Once the runners have all rounded the corner of MLK at Gilbert, we will clean up the station and proceed to the Stowe House where the president of the Board of the Friends of Stowe (our very own Chris DeSimeo) will prepare a breakfast repast that will be envy of all.

This is a limited time opportunity for a few willing volunteers. Our volunteer sign up ends on April 24. So don’t get left out. Sign up NOW!
