History

Walnut Hills is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Cincinnati. The community was originally part of an 130-acre farm owned by James Kemper, a Presbyterian minister. The farmland included area north of what is now Eden Park, consuming the territory of what is today Walnut Hills and East Walnut Hills. In 1804, Kemper built a log cabin which was located between modern-day Park Avenue and Kemper Lane, north of Windsor Street. The cabin still exists today. After being relocated to the Cincinnati Zoo in 1912, it was moved to the Sharon Woods Heritage Village in 1981.
