Give Back Cincinnati is hosting a Walnut Hills Community Immersion event on Saturday April 10th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Give Back Cincinnati has organized this event as a way to intimately get to know our community. During the event, participants will engage in a walking tour to learn about the community’s history, arts, culture, small businesses, revitalization efforts and volunteer opportunities. Plus, we will enjoy a complimentary lunch and the company of the community’s most passionate and knowledgeable residents!

The Julie Hanser Memorial Garden, located on 2625 Stanton Avenue, has the mission of “promoting healthy behaviors within the community by allowing seniors to exercise, eat healthily and socialize by raising and maintaining a vegetable garden.” Much of the garden’s harvest is also distributed among Walnut Hills seniors who are unable to leave their homes. Mercy Neighborhood Ministries (originally as Healing Connections Associates) has been fulfilling this mission since 2006.

The Walnut Hills Area Council was founded in 1965 as a voice to represent the interests of the community. The council meets at 6:30 on the second Thursday of every month at the Frederick Douglass Elementary School at 2627 Park Avenue. During the meetings, residents are briefed on community events as well as future community developments.
Our next meeting will take place Thursday April 8th. All are invited to attend.
